About The Director
Lester Van Moody has performed with numerous brass ensembles, musical groups and marching bands. He was a member of the All State Band of Illinois and with this organization, had the opportunity to tour Europe to display his musical talents.
After earning a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music, He went on to receive a Master of Arts Degree in Guidance & Counseling from Roosevelt University.
Since 1971, Mr. Moody has served in several capacities such as Music Director of Roseland Christian Academy and Chicago Christian School. In addition, he is the founder & director of The Van Moody Community Marching Band.
Under his instruction, The Van Moody Community Band has played in such venues as The White House Grounds in Washington D.C., Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and several local and regional festivals and parades.
